The 93rd Academy Awards announced this year‘s nominees, including a second Oscar nomination for Olivia Colman.
Olivia got nominated as best supporting actress for her role as daughter Anne in Florian Zeller‘s „The Father“, giving her the chance to win her second Oscar. The nomination follows her 2019 leading actress nomination and win for her stellar performance as Queen Anne in „The Favourite“.
Another parallel, besides the screen name of her nominated performances, sees her competing once more against Glenn Close, who received a nomination for her performance in „Hillbilly Elegy“. Other nominees in her category are Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Amanda Seyfried (Mank) and Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari). Olivia‘s on screen father, Anthony Hopkins, got honoured for his performance in „The Father, as well, receiving a nomination as Best Actor. The Sony Pictures Classic production is up for another 4 Awards, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay (Christopher Hampton, Florian Zeller), Best film editing (Yorgos Lamprinos) and Best Production Design (Peter Francis and Cathy Featherstone).
The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony will take place on April 25, streaming live from Los Angeles. The original date was pushed back for two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
